Scouting Honours and Awards
Recognition Program for Adults and Youth

Formal recognition is through Scouts Canada's Honours and Awards program. Appreciation and admiration for the hard, dedicated work carried out by adult volunteers in Scouts Canada is shown through specific awards. Youth and adults participating in the program who show high character and courage, gallantry, meritorious conduct or outstanding service to Scouting are recognized through specific honours.
We encourage you to initiate the process for an award for volunteers whose dedication and commitment inspire others to 'do their best'. We suggest that you review the following pages if you are considering submitting an application for an award:

Scouts Canada Honours and Awards
There are five classes of Scouts Canada awards for adults and youth:
- For High Character and Courage: Medal of Fortitude and The Jack Cornwell Decoration.
- For Gallantry (with personal risk to the person performing the act): Certificate for Gallantry, Bronze Cross, Silver Cross and Gold Cross.
- For Meritorious Conduct (not involving personal risk): Certtificate for Meritorious Conduct, and Medal for Meritorious Conduct.
- For Outstanding Service to Scouting (by adults): Certificate of Commendation, Medal of Good Service, Medal of Merit, Silver Acorn, Silver Wolf and Silver Acorn.
- For Long , Faithful and Effective Service to Scouting (by adults): Five Year Pin, Long Service Medal, Long Service Pin.
Youth Activity Awards
There are three activity-based awards presented to those youth who demonstrate keen participation in their applicable youth program:
- 6 Star Award presented to Cubs who earn all six activity stars.
- Chief Scout's Award presented to Scouts who complete the stringent requirements.
- Queen's Venturer Award presented to Venturers who complete the stringent requirements.
Council Youth Service Awards
Northern Lights Council presents the Andy "A2Z" Avdimeretz Memorial Outstanding Youth Service Award to ten deserving youth (Scouts, Rovers, or Venturers) each year who provide outstanding service to Scouting and to their community over the previous 12 months.
Reginald K. Groome Memorial Scholarships
Fondation Scouts Canada Foundation has established several scholarships to be awarded annually to support members of Scouts Canada entering or continuing full time studies at a Canadian university or college.
